Strong arguments end in a weak conclusion

Reader comment on: Terrorism and Palestinian Statehood

Mr. Dershowitz offers a number of strong arguments aginst the UN recognizing Palestinian statehood unilaterally, but then demolishes his credibility by saying that he continues to favor a Palestinian state.

I suggest he ask himself, along with all others who favor a Palestinian state despite past decades of Palestinian behavior and the contents of their current 'negotiating' position, what do we do if it ever becomes clear, as it long since should have, that the Palestinians are never going to offer any terms that Israel could safely accept, or the United States could honorably urge them to accept?

We continue to demean ourselves, as does the usually able Dershowitz, by refusing to ask ourselves the obvious question - what do we do, what policy do we follow, if there is never going to be a Palestinian state?
