Teenagers probably aren't kicking back in Gaza
Reader comment on: Hamas' Phony Statistics on Civilian Deaths
Submitted by Victor Salkowitz, Aug 7, 2014 19:39
Hamas has historically been accused of training and using "under age" boys as combatants. While they have claimed in the past to have stopped this policy, one would be hard pressed to believe that teenagers, those 15, 16, 17 years of age (and those who would be considered "children" in statistics), are just kicking back and watching all this on TV. Early on in the ground invasion, a wounded Israeli soldier reported being approached by a 13 year old wearing a suicide vest. Nevertheless, these details tend to get lost in the media where the "dead baby strategy" prevails. A very shrewd tactic on the part of Hamas to upend Israel's Counter-offensive into a ruthless offensive.
