Muslim minority "more equal" than non-Muslim minorities

According to Statistics Canada, the three groups most targeted by police-reported hate crimes in 2013 were (1) Blacks at 22%, (2) Jews at 16%, and (3) homosexuals at 16%, far ahead of Muslims (5.6%) or Arabs/West Asians (4.1%). Jewish targets, in particular, accounted for 56% of all religiously-motivated hate crimes in 2013—three times the figure for Muslim targets, even though Muslims outnumber Jews by 3 to 1 in Canada. In fact, as a percentage of the Canadian population, Muslims (3.2%) outnumber not only Jews (1.1%), but also Blacks (2.9%) and self-declared homosexuals (1.7%). In other words, in Canada, a Jew is 9 times more likely than a Muslim to be targeted by a hate crime, a Black 4 times, and a homosexual 5 times. And yet, the House of Commons passed no motion condemning anti-Semitism, anti-Black racism, or homophobia. They're just not worth it, it would seem. To paraphrase George Orwell: All minorities are equal but some minorities are more equal than others.
