If I recall correctly Mrs Merkel justified her policy arguing, among other things, that Germany needed to resupply its ageing workforce to support its retirees. Surely her own statistics are by now telling her that since the majority of these immigrants are almost unemployable and an economic burden that on this account alone she will rapidly end the German economic miracle. Surely after Germany's failure to convert Greeks and Italians into Germans she would know that converting Syrians, Tunisians, Iraqis and Afghans is even more challenging. If it were not for the inevitable backlash and breakdown of law and order and society in general, UK would be able to grasp this as an opportunity to overtake Germany economically. However, real world experience is that instead UK will have to pay to clean up the mess. Blood and iron, but not as Bismarck intended it.
