Repeal the Laws
Reader comment on: The West Submits to Blasphemy Laws

It is not a legitimate function of government to protect any sort of belief, religious, political, or otherwise, from denigration or condemnation. Laws against blasphemy, hate speech, hate crime, etc. all need to be eliminated.
People have a right to believe whatever they like and say whatever they believe without censorship, or punishment by government. Crimes such as assault are crimes without any need to consider possible motivation, and should be punished regardless of motivation -- the motivation itself cannot be a crime, only the act -- no act, no crime (and no need to speculate on motivation).
