It certainly seems like it.
Many non-islamic apologists for Islam fail to recognize and understand that the "religion" is not only that, but a prescription for proselytizing (and prescribes a cure if we "infidels" fail to convert, pay or obey). There is also the legal aspect (sharia) and moral codes, traditions and customs (ie: burkas, honour killings for the slightest insult, etc). They are all bound up in the Qu'ran, and "good, obedient muslims are not to question the word of "Allah", as set down by Mohammed. There can be no other muslim than a devout and submissive one. After all, Islam means "submission" (to "God/Allah".
Is it a religion of "peace"? Well, perhaps not so much. Mohammed was a warrior who conquered people, and Islam has done so or attempted do so throughout its history (the gates of Vienna, and all that). Jesus, on the other hand, was a carpenter/builder. People may wish to consider if Islam truly is a religion of "peace", because it certainly isn't one of freedom and individualism.
