The EU parliament broke a fundamental principle of all states under the rule of law. All MEP's had immunity from prosecution. Rightly or wrongly this was the case. Le Pen acted as she did in the justified belief that she could not be prosecuted. To change the law retroactively to incriminate someone they object to is itself a breach of fundamental principle. Whether you like or loathe her is irrelevant. Supporting retroactive legislation to deprive someone of a valid defence is outrageous and no one who supported it can be regarded as a democrat or someone who can be relied on to defend our freedoms.
