through the looking glass
Reader comment on: The United Nations "Human Rights" Council

So,as we peer through the looking glass into the topsy turvy world of the UNHRC,will we wait in vain for an uncompromising condemnation of the slaughter and intimidation currently on the rampage in northern Iraq?
Will the UNHRC have anything plausible or constructive to say about the mass displacement of Christians, Yazidis, Mandaeans, Sufis, Turkmens and others who have fled for their lives and now face starvation and homelessness unless the western countries can step in to aid the Kurdish forces who are trying to protect them?
Supplies of food and water are being dropped and ISIS positions are now being bombed by US planes but will the UNHRC try to divert attention from the atrocities being meted out by ISIS in the hope that Israel's conflict will continue to draw the loudest condemnation from the usual suspects?
Calls for Israel to be boycotted and isolated will continue in the western liberal press while the minorities of Iraq face complete eradication at the hands of ISIS.
A mad, mad world.
