The whole reason the MFO is in the Sinai is that while Israel brought the Sinai to the treaty Egypt just signed a piece of paper... If that piece of paper is to be of more value then the piece of paper Chamberlain waved as he got out of the airplane that carried him home after his meeting in Munich with Hitler then every stipulation has to be adhered to...

I have no doubt that Israel stipulated that the additional Egyptian forces in the Sinai are to be withdrawn after the security situation has been handled... If this stipulation won't be enforced and/or if the Egyptians unilaterally change the provisions of the peace treaty without meaningful interference from the US the damage to the peace process (such as it is) will be irreparable!...

Israel will not be able to sign any other treaties wherein it's basically putting its faith in in its enemies mainly because of American guarantees if those guarantees turn out to be worthless!...

Israel returned the Sinai for the 2nd time after having returned it following the Suez Canal crisis (1954) following American guarantees... The stipulations of that agreement were abrogated as soon as the Israelis withdrew... The leadup to the 6 Day War occurred to a certain degree because the US did not force the issue with the Egyptians...

If the US reneges a 2nd time the future will be rather bleak...
