Reader comment on: UK Textbook Wipes Israel Off the Map
Submitted by Aptitude Design, Jan 4, 2013 00:46
The Arab League attempted to occupy Palestine in 1948: this map represents that aspiration. The parts that are nowadays called Occupied Palestine are the reality of that attempt: they lay within the proper border of Palestine, as defined in 1923. Before that, Palestine referred to what is now Jordan and Israel, and the Golan Heights. The Arab nations seem to have taken Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four as their handbook for maintaing state power, a disease which they caught from Mussolini, Franco, and others.
