What's wrong with smaller populations?

Actually, Elizabeth, smaller populations can be a major negative. Especially in the land of the mega-welfare states of Western Europe. Who is going to finance the cradle to grave state with insufficient workers? Even without this mega-welfare state, an expanding work force is necessary for the economy to grow.
So Merkel's comedic assumption is that the migrants will, over time, become good little Germans. Maybe they will, but my assumption is that they will contribute only to the on-going Euro-suicide.
